This is the full list of 2027 full moon dates and 2027 new moon dates, with the exact time of each one, the zodiac sign and degree it falls in, and the traditional name of every full moon. The first full moon of the year is the Wolf Moon on January 22, a supermoon in Leo. The first new moon is on January 7 in Capricorn. Each row gives the time in UTC and in US Eastern Time, because a moon in the early hours of UTC falls on the previous evening in the Americas.

From a Moon phase to a lunar calendar day

A full or new Moon is an astronomical instant. A Hindu tithi is a narrower division of the changing Sun–Moon relationship and can begin or end within a civil date. Read Panchanga’s five calendar elements or compare tropical and sidereal signs before comparing calendar labels across traditions. The Sacred Timing Explorer can investigate a date from this table at your own place and time.

At a Glance

  • 2027 has 12 full moons and 13 new moons, 25 lunations in all.

For the current year, see the 2026 moon calendar.

2027 Full Moon Dates, Times, Names and Signs

A full moon is the peak of the lunar month. The Sun and Moon are in opposite signs, and whatever began at the new moon two weeks earlier comes into view. It is the time to notice results, celebrate and let go.

2027 New Moon Dates, Times and Signs

A new moon is the start of the lunar month. The Sun and Moon meet at the same degree, the sky is dark, and a new cycle begins. It is the time to set an intention that suits the sign.

How these dates were verified

New/full Moon times follow the US Naval Observatory’s 2027 phase data, published to the minute in Universal Time (treated as UTC at this precision). Zodiac signs and degrees were checked with Natal Echo’s astronomical engine at those instants, using the geocentric tropical zodiac, rounded to the nearest arcminute. A sign is a 30° zodiac sector, not an astronomical constellation boundary.

The New York column uses America/New_York, including EST/EDT changes. June’s full moon and several new moons therefore fall on the previous local date. Different ephemerides and rounding can differ by about a minute; use the same reference throughout a table.

The seasonal Blue Moon claim was checked against the calculated March equinox and June solstice: March 22, April 20, May 20 and June 19 all fall within that Northern Hemisphere season. May 20 is the third of those four full moons. “Supermoon” has no single official distance threshold; the January full moon is calculated at about 357,600 km and is the closest of 2027’s full moons. These distances and phase geometry are calculations; the interpretive themes are astrology.

The Notable Moons of 2027

The January Supermoon

The Wolf Moon of January 22 is full when the Moon is about 357,600 km from the Earth, close to its nearest point. That makes it a supermoon under commonly used definitions and the closest full moon of 2027. It is the third in a row, after the full moons of November 24 and December 24, 2026. A supermoon looks a little larger and brighter than usual, and in astrology it is read as a full moon felt more strongly. The supermoon meaning guide explains more.

Two Scorpio Full Moons and a Blue Moon

The full moon of April 20 falls at 0°37' Scorpio and the full moon of May 20 at 29°14' Scorpio, the first and last degrees of the same sign. Two full moons in one sign is unusual, and it gives Scorpio themes of trust, endings and shared resources a long run through the spring.

The second of them is also a seasonal Blue Moon. Northern Hemisphere spring 2027, from the March equinox to the June solstice, contains four full moons where a season normally has three, and by the older definition the third of the four is the Blue Moon. There is no calendar-month Blue Moon in 2027. The Blue Moon meaning guide covers both definitions.

Two New Moons in August

August has new moons on the 2nd and the 31st. The first is the total solar eclipse in Leo. The second, in Virgo, is sometimes called a Black Moon, the new moon counterpart of a calendar Blue Moon. Taken together they make August the month to begin again: first in how you show up, then in how you organise your days.

The Harvest Moon

The Harvest Moon is the full moon nearest the September equinox. In 2027 that is the full moon of September 15 in Pisces, a week before the equinox on September 23. The Hunter's Moon follows on October 15 in Aries.

The Five Eclipses of 2027

Eclipses are new and full moons that fall close to the lunar nodes, and they mark the turning points of the year. In 2027 the nodes are in Aquarius and Leo.

  • February 6: Annular solar eclipse at 17°38' Aquarius.
  • February 20: Penumbral lunar eclipse at 2°05' Virgo.
  • July 18: Very slight penumbral lunar eclipse at 25°49' Capricorn. Nothing can be seen, and many astrologers read it as an ordinary full moon.
  • August 2: Total solar eclipse at 9°55' Leo, with a maximum totality of 6 minutes and 23 seconds.
  • August 17: Penumbral lunar eclipse at 24°12' Aquarius.

The 2027 eclipse calendar has the full details, including where each one is visible and which houses it activates by rising sign.

How to Read This Calendar for Your Chart

The calendar tells you the sign and degree of each moon. It becomes personal when you place that degree in your own birth chart, because each sign falls in a different house for each person.

  • Find the house. A new moon restarts the area of life that its house describes. A full moon brings that area to a head. The free Full Moon and New Moon House Finder gives the exact house for every 2027 moon from your birth date, time and place.
  • Check the degree. A moon within about three degrees of one of your natal planets or angles is the one you will feel most.
  • Watch your own Moon sign. The new and full moons in your Moon sign, and in the sign opposite, are your most personal ones of the year. If you do not know it, the Moon sign calculator finds it in a few seconds.
  • Pair them up. Each new moon has a matching full moon in the same sign about six months later. What you begin at the new moon in Aries on April 6 comes to light at the full moon in Aries on October 15.
