The Moon moves through all twelve signs in about 27 days, so it changes sign roughly every two and a half days. That is why two people with the same Sun sign, born a few days apart, can have very different emotional styles.

On most birth dates the Moon stays in one sign all day, and the calculator can give your Moon sign from the date alone. On the days when the Moon changes sign, your birth time and city decide which side of the change you were born on. The calculator tells you when your date is one of those.
