Annual profections are an ancient Hellenistic timing technique. Each year of life advances one whole-sign house from your rising sign — showing the area of life in focus and the planet that runs your year.
Annual profections move one whole-sign house forward each year of your life. At age 0 the 1st house (your rising sign) is activated; at age 1 the 2nd house; and so on, returning to the 1st house every 12 years. The ruler of the activated sign becomes your Lord of the Year — the planet whose condition and transits carry extra weight for those twelve months.

What is an annual profection?
It is a Hellenistic timing method that assigns each year of your life to a whole-sign house counted from your rising sign. The activated house shows the year's main life area, and the planet that rules that house's sign becomes your Lord of the Year.
How do I find my profection year?
Take your age in completed years and count that many whole-sign houses forward from your rising sign, wrapping around every 12. Age 0, 12, 24, 36 all activate the 1st house; age 1, 13, 25 the 2nd house; and so on. This calculator does it for you.
What is the Lord of the Year?
The Lord of the Year (or time lord) is the traditional ruling planet of the sign on your activated profection house. Its natal condition and the transits it makes during your profection year are especially significant.
Do I need my exact birth time?
